Description
Do you have limited time and want to pack as much Olympic National Park hiking adventure in as you can in 3 days? If so, this gem of a trail is for you! We traverse through a dramatic rainforest to high alpine lakes and stunning panoramas on this 3 day loop hike, making it a fantastic trip to do over a long weekend or as an add-on to more extensive traveling!
A moderate first day takes us up to our first night at Deer Lake, while day 2 delivers the big punches: a steep ascent up to the High Divide Trail, with views of Mount Olympus, the Seven Lakes Basin, and the Hoh River Valley. We’ll summit Bogachiel Peak, see alpine lakes, enjoy wildlflowers, watch for Olympic marmots and mountain goats, and soak in the views for several miles before dropping into beautiful Heart Lake for the second night. We’ll finish the hike by descending the Sol Duc River trail, back into moss-covered spruce and fir forests and tumbling Sol Duc Falls. Photo opportunities, wildlife, and serenity abound.
