Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1

At the end of your Patagonia Hiking Tour, we will drive you to the beautiful, relaxing KAU Rio Serrano lodge along the riverbank of the Rio Serrano. You’ll say a final goodbye to your guide and the rest of the group. After getting settled into your room, a warm shower with incredible views of the Paine Massif awaits you. Head to the living room and enjoy a welcome cocktail (the Calafate Sour is the regional specialty) and soak in the enormous views as you reflect on the incredible week of hiking you’ve just accomplished. A multi-course dinner will be served and will conclude with a delectable dessert.

Day 2

Breakfast will be served in the dining room, again with magnificent views of the Paine Massif, at the time you request. Today is a choose-your-own-adventure day filled with many options (see below). Please book with your guide at the orientation meeting on Day 1 of your W-Trek, O Circuit, or Patagonia Lodge Based hiking trip.

Lunch is provided today either at the lodge or while you’re out exploring Villa Serrano and the surrounding areas. After your chosen excursions (or relaxed day at the lodge), return to the dining room for a final dinner in Patagonia. Salud and cheers to your adventure!

Optional Excursions (additional cost):

Fly Fishing (full day: $195/half day: $125) – whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler, the Serrano River is a fisherman’s paradise. We’ll provide all the equipment (fly fishing or conventional), as well as cold and hot beverages throughout the day, sandwiches, fruits, chocolates, and snacks. Be on the lookout for Brown Trout and Sea Run or Chinook salmon (up to 66 lbs. are found in this river). November to March is best for trout, while December through February is best for Chinook salmon.

Kayaking Grey River (full day: $370/half day: $320) – After a safety briefing and getting suited up, you and your guide will launch at the Pingo River sector where we’ll navigate an incredible area very likely surrounded by icebergs. We’ll have plenty of time to soak it all in and take pictures of this surreal beauty. We’ll then begin the river descent, enjoying views of the Paine Massif form a slightly different vantage point. We’ll continue on towards Grey Bridge. At the guide’s discretion, there may be opportunity to paddle a few rapids. The total distance will be around 19 miles/30 km.

Horseback Riding (full day: $285/half day: $195) – On this excursion you’ll be guided by authentic Patagonia baqueanos (local cowboys) who are experts in the region and in horse riding. You will be outfitted with helmets, leather gaiters, and high-quality saddles with handmade leather saddlebags and sheepskin saddle pads. We will meet our horses, pack up, and off we go! Our route will follow the shores of the Serrano River and through the surrounding forests. The landscape will include the characteristic pampas, mystical ñirre, and lenga forests. From the lookout, enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Paine Massif.

Spa or Lodge Time – A stone’s throw away from our accommodations is the Serrano Spa where you can choose from a variety of massages and body treatments. The talented staff are well-versed in helping guests fully relax and recover from hiking (one treatment is even called Tired Legs Ritual!). Of course, you may also enjoy your time relaxing at your wonderful lodge or taking short walks around the property and along the riverbank.

Beginners are welcome on any of the tours; no experience necessary for the additional activities.

Day 3

Take in those final views from the dining room window as you savor this morning’s breakfast. Your driver will pick you up this morning at 8 am to transfer you to the airport. We’ll stop along our route to explore the Milodon Cave Natural Reserve. This reserve is surrounded by magnificent snowcapped mountains and glacier-colored fjords. Here you can learn about of the beginning of the Holocene era (12.500 years BC), where the early human settlers to this region first left remnants of their presence. You’ll then continue on to the Puerto Natales airport to conclude your Patagonia Add-On Package.  Please plan departure flights no earlier than 12:30 pm on this day.

Please Note: We always do everything in our power to follow the set itinerary, however occasionally trips are subject to itinerary changes based on a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to: lodging/campground availability, extreme weather, political or bureaucratic obstacles, earthquakes, fires, flooding and more. Normal terms and conditions apply to trips with itinerary changes.
