John S.

John has over a decade of experience as a guide, park ranger, and environmental educator and is passionate about connecting people to the land. He has years of experience guiding multi-week canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Wilderness in the summers and running dogsled trips in Idaho and Minnesota in the winters. As a backpacker, he has worked in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico, and has completed personal through-hikes across Spain and Scotland. As a Park Ranger he has worked in National Parks inĀ  North Dakota, Vermont and Maine and has a deep love for advocating for public lands. He loves the ecosystems of the Northeast and completed a through-paddle of the Connecticut River in Spring 2024 so he could experience this region through the eyes of its longest river. When not working, you can find him living with his retired sled dog Lumi, sewing new outdoor gear, and teaching Wilderness Medicine classes for NOLS.
