John P.
Raised in the foothills of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, John enjoyed a childhood where the outdoors played a central role. He went on his first backpacking trip at the age of six. He kept up that habit through his teenage years. When John graduated high school, he had already counted over 300 trail miles and 150+ days in the backcountry and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
At Brevard College John earned a degree in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education, with a minor in Acting. Over the last decade John has led expeditions in 20 states between Alaska and Florida. He holds a Wilderness First Responder certification, and is a former member of the Brevard Rescue Squad.
When John is not on trail with Wildland you will find him whitewater kayaking, playing bluegrass music, or working with an outdoor education non-profit.
