Jessie H.

Jessie grew up playing in the oak forests of Oklahoma. She has tremendous gratitude to her parents for sharing their love of our national parks snd wild places from a young age. After college, Jessie moved to Alaska to work in supply chain management. In Alaska, she discovered the joy of off-trail travel and backcountry skiing, and became enamored with snow science. Her longing to be outside as much as possible and make a positive impact on the world led her to quit her business career after 7 years. Since that time she has relentlessly pursued her dreams and lives by the motto that “life is too short to wish you were doing something else.”

Jessie has worked the last 5 years as an avalanche educator and observer, ski guide, and backpacking/hiking guide across Alaska, Utah, Colorado, California, and Arizona.  She loves sharing the history, geology, culture, and flora and fauna of the wild places she loves so dearly with guests.  She believes by doing so, an adventure through beautiful places becomes much richer and more meaningful. Her other core passion is empowering people through education to be on the sharp end, confidently making decisions whether in avalanche terrain, or navigating and route-finding off-trail.

Jessie is a cactus obsessed desert rat that loves warm sunshine, deep canyons, and wide open spaces, but conversely finds pure joy in skiing blower powder and being in the high alpine. When she isn’t backpacking and skiing, she can be found exploring the wide array of flavors of Mexican cuisine, reading a good book, observing and identifying birds and plants, mountain biking slick rock, or paddling a desert river.
