Recently returned to his childhood home, Darrek resides amidst the evergreens in Washington State, where he often explores his local Cascade Mountains and abundant surrounding national forests. His appreciation for the outdoors was developed in his formative adolescent years in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, where his love for backpacking and mountaineering began in ernest. He has spent much of his adult life working seasonally in the US national parks, with many fine and scenic places becoming his own backyard for a time. Eventually the love for the outdoors led him to tour-guiding and showing off the nation’s natural wonders to people from across the globe. When he isn’t working, he enjoys snowboarding in the winter, floating along rivers in the summer, and kicking back with a good book in his hammock whenever he can find the time.
