Michael B.
Originally from France, Michaël started to work in Iceland in 2010. Over the years, he’s been exploring the country from the shores to the summits and enjoys learning and sharing always more about the country and its fascinating natural processes and phenomenon. During the winter, he also works as a Geographer for the University of Iceland and has been involved in various studies and reports related to land-use conflicts, wilderness preservation, tourism management and nature conservation in Iceland. His range of interests also covers environmental, climate and energy issues. Member of the Association of Icelandic Mountain Guides, he is trained as a Hard Ice 1 glacier guide, and certified Wilderness First Responder. Above all, he’s developed a particular bond with the region surrounding Vatnajökull ice cap as well as the colorful rhyolitic mountains in Fjallabak Nature Reserve. As one of Wildland’s main Iceland trekking guides, he truly loves to take people on forgotten trails, and to give them a taste of Iceland’s delicious food culture.
