Max grew up in Ohio, but an obsession with the mountains prompted him to pursue his college education in Colorado. He focused his passion for the inner workings of the natural world as an undergraduate studying ecology and geology at the University of Colorado, where he also developed a love for rock climbing. After graduating, Max traveled the world to climb, bike, and hike, but he always returned to the mountains and deserts of the American West, where the complexity and beauty of the land provides endless inspiration. A strong advocate for the transformative power of nature and human-powered adventure, Max loves sharing stories of the outdoors through writing, photography, and, of course, in-person with the guests on his trips.
