Born and raised in northern California, Matt was fortunate to grow up in the mighty Redwoods and along the rugged Pacific Ocean. This is where his passion for nature bloomed. Now, he is a true nomad and has lived all over the United States. Matt is well on his way to visiting all of the National Parks units in the United States — a lifetime goal of his.

After completing a 50-day Outward Bound course in 2014, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life: travel and guide. Matt has been an outdoor professional since then, guiding backpacking, hiking, cross country skiing, bicycling, sea kayaking, and llama-supported tours. Matt is a career guide, and has even started his own backpacking company, operating in Yellowstone and Channel Islands. His love for guiding goes beyond the thrill of being outdoors — he loves making people laugh, has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and is deeply passionate about wildlife, the outdoors, photography, and creating a healthy planet
