Trip Highlights
This hike begins in the famous Paradise Meadows of Mt. Rainier, a subalpine wonderland of flowers and fragile meadows. We’ll head up the Skyline Trail towards Glacier Vista, with its panoramic views of the Nisqually Glacier, and then continue upward. A full day – and a lot of elevation – takes us to Camp Muir, the basecamp for mountaineers aiming to summit Rainier, at over 10,000 feet. On our way we’ll keep an eye out for marmots, pikas, mountain goats, and more, while soaking in views of Mt. Rainier and beyond. If the weather cooperates, we could get views of Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Adams, three of the other major stratovolcanoes in the Cascades range. Our return will take us past the braided Myrtle Falls, and finally back to the vehicle and the main lodge. If you’re interested in a memorable hiking experience on Mount Rainier, this is one is an excellent choice.

Where We Meet?
We’ll rendezvous in front of the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise, Washington. Your guide will contact you approximately 7 days before your hike to coordinate the exact time and location of your rendezvous.
Safety Precautions
Your safety is our top priority. Our hiking tours are led by professional hiking guides, all of whom are wilderness-certified first responders or EMT’s, each with years of guiding and wilderness experience. Guides adhere to standardized risk management protocols in case of any potential or actual incident, and all tours carry an emergency communication device and comprehensive first-aid kit. Additionally we have a “24/7” system through which guides or guests can reach Wildland support personnel at any time.

Age restrictions on this trip are as follows:
- 5 and older to join private tours, with final approval on a case by case basis
Weather in the Pacific Northwest
This trip is primarily at altitude in the alpine zone of Mount Rainier. Below are the average high and low temperatures in different parts of the Pacific Northwest, however on this tour the “Mountain” temperatures are the relevant ones to take into account:

My brother, spouse, and I couldn't have enjoyed our guided hike to Camp Muir with Julian Lacroix any more than we did. It was a fantastic day on the mountain and Julian proved to be an excellent guide. He made us feel welcome and comfortable from the get-go with his engaging but laid back personality. It was a relief to learn we'd be spending the day with a relatable and friendly guy! Julian was professional and knowledgeable too. It was awesome to learn about the flora and fauna of the area and to get a briefing before we started on what we should expect in terms of the hike. Throughout the day, Julian struck the perfect balance between teaching us about the area and getting to know us and giving us time to ourselves to take in the beauty of the park. This is a testament to his social candor and emotional intelligence; both of which are really important traits for a guide to possess in ensuring an enjoyable experience for their party. We also appreciated that Julian always kept all three us within a distance that we felt was safe but not overbearing. His pacing and break system was excellent which definitely contributed to all of us reaching our destination despite the long and taxing climb to the camp. I started dragging a bit towards the very end and Julian was right there just ahead of me to offer some "woo's" and words of encouragement which propelled me to keep pushing. Julian's guide performance was truly first class. We're so thankful to have been paired up with him to complete an incredible hike we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives!

LOVED it! Dan was an excellent guide and we had a fantastic time! It was challenging enough for our group, but didn't feel perilous in any way. The perfect way for my sisters, mom and I to celebrate her impending 70th! Glad to have Dan see us to the top and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious, fresh and healthy lunch he prepared there! It was the envy of all walkers by. :) Glissading down was super fun and something new for us all! Loved it! (Next time....on to the summit!)

Amazing hike! Will was fantastic! I am quite sure he made the difference for me making it all the way up to base camp (and down again). That was the most difficult and the BEST hike I have ever done!
