Is This Trip Right For me?
This trip follows well maintained trails. Some concerns include loose dirt, large stepping stones and tree roots. The top of Vernal/Nevada falls has exposed vertical drops with safety railings in place.
Trip Itinerary
Please Note: We always do everything in our power to follow the set itinerary, however it can change occasionally based on temporary access restrictions, weather, lodging/campground availability, guest ability/injury, natural events like fires and flooding, and other potential causes. Normal terms and conditions apply to trips with itinerary changes.
Optional Pre-trip Lodging
This Yosemite hiking tour has optional, add-on, pre-trip lodging for the night before the trip begins at Autocamp Yosemite. Lodging in the Yosemite area can be difficult to secure, so we offer this night’s accommodations as a convenience and added benefit for guests who prefer it. Dinner is not included in the pre-trip lodging, and breakfast Day 1 is included but will be provided by your guide.
Day 1
Shuttle: 45-60 minutes each way
Hiking Mileage: 7.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 2900 feet
Elevation Loss: 2900 feet
On this Yosemite hiking tour, we’ll start our trip with a hike to two of Yosemite’s crown jewels, Vernal Fall, and Nevada Fall, along either the John Muir Trail or the Mist Trail, depending on conditions. While many of Yosemite’s hikes are centered on a final destination, today’s route features stunning views the whole way, from Upper Yosemite Falls across the Valley, to the phenomenal granite heights of Liberty Cap, Grizzly Peak, the Panorama Cliffs, Sentinel Dome, Glacier Point and even Half Dome soaring above our heads.
After we lunch at a picturesque point overlooking the falls, we’ll drive back to Autocamp Yosemite and get settled in our accommodations and have a chance to shower. We’ll reconvene in the evening for a delicious dinner.
Day 2
Shuttle: 1.5 hours each way
Hiking Mileage: 10.2 miles
Elevation Gain: 2540 feet
Elevation Loss: 2540 feet
Today we will climb one of Yosemite Valley’s iconic granite domes, Half Dome’s northerly sibling, the spectacular North Dome. Our hike starts above the Valley at a normally quiet trailhead and heads south through a pristine Lodgepole Pine forest. After only a few miles we will enjoy a rejuvenating break at Indian Arch, an arch-shaped rock that provides breathtaking views of the mountains that surround us. From Indian Arch we will descend down onto the top of North Dome where we will enjoy a picnic lunch with out-of-this-world, 360-degree views of Yosemite Valley and the surrounding mountain peaks as our backdrop. After snapping lots of photos and soaking up the views, we will complete our hike back to the trailhead, then return to camp for showers, evening cuisine, and another relaxing evening.
Day 3
Shuttle: 1 hour each way
Hiking Mileage: 7.9 miles
Elevation Gain: 1900 feet
Elevation Loss: 1900 feet
Today is an unforgettable adventure as we embark on a cross-country hike to one of Yosemite’s most beautiful lakes – Cathedral Lake. Our hike begins in Tuolumne Meadows but quickly ascends into a lodgepole forest. On the shores of the lake we’ll dip our feet and/or go for a chilly but refreshing swim, enjoy a wonderful picnic lunch, and relish the world-famous views of one of the most picturesque features of Yosemite’s high country: Cathedral Peak reflected in the crystal waters of the lake. Another feast of a dinner and relaxing evening await us back at camp.
Day 4
Shuttle: 45-60 minutes each way
Hiking Mileage: 6 miles
Elevation Gain/Loss: 1200 feet
On our final day, we’ll pack up and enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving our lodging. We’ll turn south and enjoy one last, special treat. Today’s hike takes us into Yosemite’s biggest trees – the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. We’ll visit the 2700 year old Grizzly Giant, the 25th largest tree on earth, as well as many other of these giants. We’ll also get an unparalleled view of Wawona Valley, another of Yosemite’s special places.
After our hike and lunch we’ll contemplate the unforgettable time we’ve just experienced, and most likely start hatching new plans for future trips to more special places like Yosemite!

1 year agoUnforgettable adventure!!
Once again my experience with Wildland was wonderful from start to finish. These folks know their business! Our guide, Sass, was such a delightful, well informed & experienced hiker. Her knowledge of the history & geography of Yosemite was impressive to say the least. AND, she’s a great chef- accommodating my dietary requests seamlessly (thank you Sass:). I will definitely request her on future trips. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time at Auto Camp, it too, was a unique & fun experience! Thank you Sass & Wildland for an unforgettable adventure!!

Wildland Trekking does not disappoint! Our Yosemite adventure was delightful and awe-inspiring from start to finish. I can't imagine a more gorgeous place than Yosemite. Our guide, Sass (Sasha) made our experience extraordinary in every way. Her warmth, her care in making sure we were enjoying it all, and her ability to prepare and serve amazing meals on the hike made it all feel yummy in every way! From lunch every day to a delicious hot breakfast prepared on a griddle as we took in the morning views at Olmstead Point, Sass made it oh so special. We can't wait to plan our next Wildland Adventure.

Having a knowledgeable guide to help us get the most out of a quick trip to such a vast park was invaluable. Autocamp was a great added perk to the trip. Watching the climber’s lights come on at dusk on El Capitan was amazing.
