Meals with your diet in mind

Meals with your diet in mind

There's no freeze dried lasagna happening on our trips! Most of our trips can accommodate vegan, gluten free, kosher diets. And for the "regular" folk, we always take suggestions—eg. if salmon is your fav, it might pop up ;)

Top of the line gear

Where applicable, we're bringing you a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp stove and mess kit, trekking poles, and for some trips even brand new lightweight packs by Hyperlite.

Permits and safety

Permits and safety

You never have to worry about sorting through the ins and outs of campsite and trail permit lotteries. And we have a robust risk management process to follow in case anything happens on the trail.

A string of pack llamas are led through a meadow

Llama treks

Explore the backcountry with friendly llamas and lighter backpacks. The llamas stay with you for the duration of the trip, and make for a great story to share with your friends. These special-experience trips are only available in Montana and Wyoming within the USA.

Stock and Portered Trips

Get supported in harder-to-reach destinations where using packstock (usually horses or mules) or local porters make the hiking and camping much more manageable. Think remote destinations in Nepal, Peru, and Africa. But we also have some of these experiences in the Blue Ridge and in California.

First Time Small Group Adventure FAQ

What is a small group hiking trip?

In the USA, most of our trips have a maximum capacity of 6 guests and 1 guide. Sometimes this can be extended to 12 guests and 2 guides, but the norm is 6. Your professional and Wilderness First Responder-certified guide will lead you on hikes, plan meals, carry first aid, navigate weather, and drive the group around as-needed. Usually, guests don’t know each other before they start hiking. But we are happy to plan private trips, fill the trip with all your friends, celebrate a special birthday or milestone on the trail.

What if I don't have someone to travel with me?

Actually, a lot of our hikers travel solo to join a trip. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people, if those in your sphere don’t have the time or interest to hike.

Are trips refundable if my plans change?

Our flexible payment policy applies means you can secure your spot by paying a deposit, then pay the rest in installments – in amounts you like, when you like, up to 61 days before departure. Only trips departing within the next 60 days will need to be paid in full.

If you wish to cancel and rebook your trip or change dates, there may be associated transfer fees, difference in pricing that will change the rate of your remaining payment, or a cancellation fee depending on how soon the trip is set to depart. Always give us a call or email if you are unsure.

What if I don't have gear?

For all the big stuff, that’s no problem. We provide backpacking or daypack backpacks depending on what’s needed. We also provide tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, a full camp cooking setup, dishware, and even hiking poles. You’re welcome to bring your own gear, but if you don’t have it, there’s no need to rush out and buy stuff that is difficult to store later.
